Empire members may have previously received a notice regarding the closure of certain Manhattan based services at Saint Vincents Catholic Medical Center (SVCMC). Please note that St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan, located at 153 West 11 Street, stopped providing inpatient hospital care as of April 30, 2010. Select outpatient services may still be available.
Due to the closure of St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan, some physicians will be required to seek admitting privileges at another hospital. We will notify impacted members in writing should these physicians fail to secure privileges at another participating hospital. Attached is a copy of a
letter we recently sent to impacted members providing additional detail. For more information on physician status, continuity of care, or your health care benefits, please contact the customer service number on the back of your ID card.
