Fifteen Upstate New York Schools Win a Live Dance Party

January 23, 2012 – New York, NY – Empire BlueCross is pleased to announce the winners of the 2011 Get Active, Get Fit! School Challenge. The 15 upstate New York schools with the highest percentage of participation in the program have won a live dance party at their school hosted by Radio Disney AM 1460. Five schools were also awarded new gym equipment packages valued at $500 for being the first to sign up and complete the Challenge.
“The Get Active, Get Fit School Challenge, which we are very pleased to sponsor, was designed to motivate kids and families to achieve fitness together by engaging in fun activities,” said Ethel Graber, VP and GM, Empire BlueCross. “In 2011, the second year of this partnership, the Challenge was completed by more than 13,000 children at upstate New York elementary schools.”
The winners of the live dance parties at their schools are:

3. Hadley-Luzerne Central School, Lake Luzerne
4. Harrison Avenue Elementary, South Glens Falls
5. Holy Family School, Malone
6. Mother Teresa Academy, Clifton Park
7. New Scotland Elementary, Albany
8. Okte Elementary, Clifton Park
9. Pine Hills Elementary, Albany
10. Radez Elementary, Richmondville
11. Roessleville Elementary, Albany
12. Ryder Elementary, Cobleskill
13. Sheafe Road Elementary, Wappingers Fall
14. St. Bernard’s, Saranac Lake
15. Thomas O’Brien Academy Albany
The schools that won new gym equipment packages valued at $500 are:

Nearly 500,000 students nationwide signed up to participate in this year’s Get Active, Get Fit School Challenge in Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, New Hampshire, Ohio, Upstate New York, Virginia and Wisconsin.
