Empire BlueCross BlueShield and NewYork-Presbyterian Reach Multi-Year Contract Agreement

November 28, 2018
Empire BlueCross BlueShield and NewYork-Presbyterian have agreed in principal on a new multiyear agreement. The agreement will allow Empire BlueCross BlueShield members who receive care at any NewYork-Presbyterian hospital, or from NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Groups, ColumbiaDoctors or Weill Cornell Medicine clinicians, to continue to be covered at the in-network level of benefits without disruption.
Our members remained our number one priority as we worked hard and in good faith to find common ground and reach an agreement. We are pleased that this agreement will allow patients to continue to choose to receive care from NewYork-Presbyterian and its affiliated physicians.
Empire’s objective in each of our hospital negotiations is to reach a fair agreement that provides our members with access to quality providers while managing health care costs. Our negotiations with the NewYork-Presbyterian have been consistent with this objective and we are confident we have reached the right deal, including initiatives that support our collective efforts to improve quality and outcomes.
