Vision Coverage With Empire Medicare Plans

If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, you may already have vision care that includes eye exams and eyewear. Many of these plans also have dental coverage, and some have an option to increase both dental and vision benefits for a fee.  

If you only have Original Medicare‡, it doesn’t cover vision exams or eye care, except in certain circumstances. For example, Part B will partially cover your eye exams if you’re at higher risk for eye complications such as glaucoma or macular degeneration. Medicare can also cover medically necessary surgery, such as cataract removal.

Anthem Extras Vision Coverage

 

With an Anthem Extras package, you can choose dental and vision coverage or dental coverage only. These convenient packages complement a Medicare Supplement, Part D, or Original Medicare‡ plan. Our packages offer varying levels of coverage, so you can choose the one that best fits your needs and budget.

Vision coverage is not offered as a standalone plan—it is only offered as part of a combined dental/vision package. The amounts shown reflect vision coverage when combined with a Standard, Premium or Premium Plus dental plan.

Check If Your Eye Doctor Is In The Plan

You will have lower costs if you use eye doctors in your plan. We have a large network of providers, and you can easily check if your current eye doctor is in the plan. 

   

Eye Care With Medicare Advantage

 

The majority of our Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans include benefits for prescription drugs, dental, vision, and hearing. What your plan covers will vary depending on where you live, but typically includes:

A yearly allowance for eyewear

 

Some Medicare Advantage plans also have optional supplemental benefits, that will boost your dental and vision coverage for an additional premium. You can add these benefits up to 90 days after your plan starts.
