If you have a Medicare Advantage plan , you may already have vision care that includes eye exams and eyewear. Many of these plans also have dental coverage, and some have an option to increase both dental and vision benefits for a fee.
If you only have Original Medicare‡, it doesn’t cover vision exams or eye care, except in certain circumstances. For example, Part B will partially cover your eye exams if you’re at higher risk for eye complications such as glaucoma or macular degeneration. Medicare can also cover medically necessary surgery, such as cataract removal.
