Mental healthcare is an important part of your overall well-being. Below are tools to help you find the right care for you and use your plan’s benefits for mental health care.

How To Find The Mental Healthcare That’s Right For You

The Empire Find Care tool helps you search for doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals that accept your health plan. Choosing a mental health doctor you trust is important – and choosing one in your plan’s network can help keep your costs down. Log in to your account or use the Sydney Health mobile app to find high-quality, cost-effective mental healthcare.

Telehealth Is A Great Care Option For Mental Health

You can use your mobile phone, tablet, or computer to visit with a doctor or therapist from a place that’s convenient for you. Many counselors and therapists offer mental health telehealth visits online or over the telephone.

Telehealth gives you access to qualified medical care 24 hours a day, cuts down on wait times, and takes away the commute to and from your doctor’s office. Ask your doctor whether they offer telehealth visits and be sure take a look at your health plan to see how it covers telehealth.

Before You Visit The Doctor

Download your digital ID card from the Sydney mobile app to your smartphone. You’ll always have it, even if your mobile device’s signal or internet connection goes bad.

Understand your costs. Use the Find Care feature on this site or on the Sydney Health mobile app to estimate the cost of a doctor's visit, lab tests, urgent care, and more.

After You Visit The Doctor

If you have a spending account, like a health savings account (HSA) or a flexible spending account (FSA), you can use it to pay for qualified health expenses such as deductibles, prescriptions, and lab tests.

We’ll send you an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) after you receive care. An EOB isn’t a bill – it outlines the medical care you've received, what your plan paid, and if there’s a balance that you’re responsible for paying. You can access an EOB and any other claim information for your plan by logging into your account or using Sydney Health.

Understanding Prescription Costs

We list prescription medicines in groups called tiers. Your cost is based on which tier the medicine is in. Tiers 1 and 2 include low-cost and generic medicines, while tiers 3 and 4 include more expensive brand-name and specialty medicines.

Check your plan documents to see which tier your medicine is in and see what it will cost. You can save on prescription costs by:

  • Talking to your doctor about generic medicines.
  • Exploring an over-the-counter option.
  • Seeing if your long-term prescription is available for home delivery.
