Network Update: Raritan Bay Medical Center Termination

Raritan Bay Medical Center’s (Raritan Bay) contract with Empire BlueCross BlueShield will terminate on May 15, 2013. However, Raritan Bay will continue to provide inpatient services to any patient admitted on an inpatient basis prior to May 15, 2013 and not discharged as of that date. If a member is receiving ongoing treatment for acute or chronic condition, he or she will be covered for an additional 30 days to transition care. Please note that the termination will only impact HMO or HMO/POS members seeking services at Raritan Bay. All Empire members with PPO, EPO, or Indemnity coverage can continue to access services at Raritan Bay through the BlueCross BlueShield BlueCard Program.
Be assured we have you covered.
Empire has a broad hospital and provider network in the service areas where Raritan Bay is located and continues to have a robust network of participating hospitals, physicians, radiology centers, ambulatory centers and other providers capable of providing healthcare services for our members at numerous convenient locations throughout New Jersey and the surrounding areas. As always, emergency care and emergency admissions will continue to be covered at Raritan Bay. We will continue our discussions with Raritan Bay in an attempt to bring them back into our network at a price you can afford.
